Tim Underwood, Principal Contract & Scheduling at Arc Infrastructure will be participating in his first Hawaiian Ride for Youth in March as part of team Arc Infrastructure, who is on target to raise $50,000 for Youth Focus.

Although this will be Tim’s first big charity ride, he has been cycling for around six years at various levels of fitness. In 2016, Tim flew to Melbourne with only his bike and a backpack to ride 850km  to Adelaide over the Easter long weekend, proving he is no stranger to putting in the kilometres when he sets his mind to it.

“After watching my colleagues at Arc participating in the ride over the past six years, I felt it was time to follow my heart and step up. I enjoy riding my bike, and if all I have to do is wake up at 5am and clock up a few kilometres for people to reach into their wallets for Youth Focus, I am more than happy to ride that bike,” Tim said.

“Although training for the ride involves a lot of dedication and early mornings, the camaraderie you develop with your team members has been inspiring. Everyone supports each other and is there to give you that psychological push just when you need it. I’m looking forward to all of our pelotons’ hard working paying off, and I’m praying for a smooth ride and no punctures!”

“I feel very privileged to be supporting and contributing to a charity that does such great work for youth mental health. I look forward to visiting the local schools on our route from Albany to Perth to highlight the services Youth Focus can offer them, their friends and their families if they are ever in need.”

The Hawaiian Ride for Youth, Australia’s premier charity event for the prevention of youth suicide and depression, is held annually over four and a half days, with each rider covering a distance of about 700km to raise funds and awareness for Youth Focus. This year the ride takes place from 24–28 March.

We wish Tim and Team Arc, along with all riders the best of luck for the ride.
