Arc Infrastructure is using our networks to support an urgent appeal from our community partners, Foodbank WA, to help manage its response to food shortages currently being experienced across their operations.

In speaking with Foodbank WA’s CEO, Greg Hebble this week, Arc was made aware of the critical status of Foodbank WA’s shelves which have been stripped bare as demand for emergency food assistance soars.

The organisation, which is dedicated to supporting some of the State’s most vulnerable people, has now reached crisis level, with Foodbank WA now unable to continue to provide essential food and grocery items to more than 400 charity partners State-wide which assist people in need of emergency food relief.

To help get things back on track, Foodbank WA is inviting members of the Perth community to drive in and drop off essential food items this Saturday 21 March between 10am-2pm at Foodbank WA, 23 Abbott Road, Perth Airport.

Foodbank WA staff and volunteers will be deployed to collect the food and will act in accordance with government regulations around social distancing and the correct handling of food items.

The organisation is currently seeking supplies of pasta, rice, flour, canned spaghetti, canned beans, tinned fruit, tinned vegetables, tinned soup and tinned tuna.

Arc Infrastructure CEO Murray Cook said he encouraged employees and members of our communities to donate if they were in a position to do so.

“While this is a challenging time for everyone in the community, the effects of this situation will be felt most strongly by our most vulnerable people. I’d encourage anyone who can spare some of the food needed by Foodbank to consider dropping off what they can this Saturday.”

“Arc’s employees are spread out across the state and we are also asking our regional teams to support Foodbank’s regional depots where possible.”

Mr Hebble said the organisation was grateful for Arc’s support, which will help them to provide a reliable supply of food to Western Australia’s most vulnerable during what is just the beginning of an unfolding global emergency.

“Corporate and community support, like Arc Infrastructure and their employees, will be critical in enabling us to operate through this challenging time, and I’d urge anyone who is able to consider making a food or cash donation.”

“Perhaps this is the moment West Aussies have been looking for to shine – an opportunity to send a message of hope, solidarity and comradery mixed with plain old West Aussie spirit where leaders leave no one behind – we’re all in this together”

Mr Hebble said responsive measures such as self-isolation and distancing were also impacting the charity’s fundraising capacity with corporate partners cancelling fundraising and volunteering and other fundraising initiatives now unable to proceed for the foreseeable future. Arc Infrastructure are donating $5,000 immediately and again, asking employees to consider donating as well.

If you would like to make a donation to Foodbank WA please visit www.foodbank.org.au or call (08) 9258 9277. Every dollar will help provide two meals for someone in need.
