Arc Infrastructure is pleased to share our first Sustainability Report, which provides an update on the 40 initiatives identified in the Sustainability Strategy, launched in 2022.
It is Arc’s responsibility to consider how the decisions we make today will affect the longevity of this critical asset, so it can continue to connect future generations of Western Australians to the rest of the country and the world. This report demonstrates the work we’re doing to ensure the sustainability of the rail network.
Chief Executive Officer Murray Cook said the report demonstrates the significant volume of work undertaken in this space over the last 12 months.
“Arc’s rail network is a critical component of global supply chains, which we have a focus and commitment to manage sustainably,” Mr Cook said.
“Key milestones and achievements from 2022 include the work undertaken which has allowed us to commit to a carbon net zero target by 2050.”
“We have also made significant progress on our Aboriginal engagement and mental health initiatives and progressed innovative projects which will deliver significant environmental benefits in the future.”
The 40 initiatives are categorised into five themes – safety and risk management, our environment, our community and stakeholders, our customers and our people.
Arc’s sustainability efforts align with the Sustainable Development Goals set out by the United Nations. These 17 goals with 169 targets that have guided us in how we can contribute to sustainability globally.
This first Sustainability Report meets a key commitment outlined in the strategy to report transparently on our progress against the original strategy. Arc will be preparing sustainability reports annually to provide further insights on our work and achievements in this space.
