This year’s campaign saw an increase in entries received with almost 140 submissions.
Arc Infrastructure CEO Murray Cook expressed his gratitude for the tremendous response.
“We thank the centres, groups and schools who entered the giveaway and helped us support the vital messages of this year’s Rail Safety Week which encourage the community to take care around the rail network, expect the unexpected and watch out for trains,” Murray said.
“We also appreciate the work of our Principal Partner, the Constable Care Foundation, for their collaboration in Arc’s commitment to rail safety education all year round.”
Rail Safety Week is an annual community awareness week held in Australia and New Zealand, designed to engage the community in safe rail practices, including around railway platforms, trains, and level crossings.
Collisions and near misses at railway crossings are an ongoing issue that put lives at risk, severely disrupt rail services and traffic flow, and have serious impacts on train drivers and other rail workers, along with the wider community. ‘Expect the Unexpected. Watch out for Trains’ is TrackSAFE’s new campaign, reminding locals and travellers that trains can come any time of day or night, including when we are least expecting them.
