The next stage of the multi-phased delivery commenced this week, with the comissioning scheduled for 29 October, after being rescheduled to avoid clashing with the Esperance Show.
While traffic management will be onsite throughout the works, with an overnight protection officer available to guide pedestrians, there is minimal impact anticipated for traffic. For pedestrians, one crossing will always be fully operational.
The initial track works were completed in late July, with the Goldfields regional team undertaking a rail lift and re-asphalting the crossing.
As part of the successful completion of these works, the Esperance-based team used their diverse skills to hand-make a wooden ramp that would allow easy and continuous access for pedestrians during the works.
Goldfields Regional Lead Craig Beek said he was proud of the way his team had gone above and beyond to deliver the works and pedestrian ramp.
“With many of our Esperance-based team being qualified carpenters, their craftsmanship really speaks for itself. Everyone is really proud of the ramp which minimised the impact for pedestrians throughout the works.”
Head of Major Projects Sudip Saha said there has been great collaboration between the local regional team and Major Projects teams to coordinate the works.
“In this instance, it was not possible to align all the works on the same day or even the same work window, so a staged approach was required.”
“We thank the community for their patience and look forward to delivering a crossing which is safer for pedestrians,” said Sudip.
The different stages of activity have included vital track maintenance, as well as the next scheduled phase of work which will improve the level of protection.
