Arc Infrastructure is proud to have sponsored the Sawatzky Cup 2025 Grasscourt Classic charity tennis tournament for the third year in a row to raise money and awareness for rare diseases in Australia.

The Sawatzky Cup is a single-day doubles tennis event named after Perth tennis player Ross Sawatzky, who died in early 2020 at 48 years of age from the rare autoimmune disease hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.

The fifth annual Sawatzky Cup took place in January this year with a record number of players, involving 28 teams and 110 players from 16 clubs, making it the most successful event yet.

Far surpassing its original goal of raising $5,000 for Rare Voices Australia (RVA), the event’s fundraising total currently sits at $7,760 with the fundraising page available until Friday, 28 February 2025 which is Rare Disease Awareness Day.

Funds raised will help RVA continue to work with key stakeholders to drive the best outcomes for Australians living with a rare disease.

Sawatzky Cup Tournament Director Norman Burns thanked Arc Infrastructure for being a major sponsor of the 2025 event.

“Without sponsors such as Arc, the Sawatzky Cup would never get off the ground,” Mr Burns said.

“It simply would not be possible to run the Sawatzky Cup to the level it has now achieved without the generous support of our sponsors.”

Arc Service Lead – Technology Operations Martin Holland first nominated the event as a potential sponsorship opportunity for Arc Infrastructure in 2023.

A close friend of Ross Sawatzky, Mr Holland is proud of the continued success of the annual tennis tournament.

“The Sawatzky Cup is getting bigger and better each year,” Martin said.

“It’s proven to be a well-organised event that’s attracted a lot of interest across the State.

“It’s humbling to see Sawatzky Cup players and spectators from metropolitan and regional areas helping to spread awareness of rare diseases in Australia.”
