Arc Infrastructure employees recently supported the Deadly Sista Girlz Netball Carnival, an annual community event led by our Principal Partner, the Waalitj Foundation, designed to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls through sport and mentorship.
The event brought together young people from across Western Australia to connect, compete and grow through sport, and our volunteers played an important part in helping the day run smoothly.
Close to 100 students across 12 metro and regional schools took part in the competition. Arc Infrastructure team members assisted by managing game scoring throughout the day and were praised for their energy and enthusiasm.
Waalitj Foundation Deadly Sista Girlz Programs Manager Anita Shipley shared her appreciation of Arc’s involvement in the event.
“A big thank you to the incredible Arc Infrastructure team of volunteers who supported our Deadly Sista Girlz (DSG) Netball Carnival. Your enthusiasm made a real difference, and our DSG staff were truly grateful for the energy you brought to scoring games throughout the day. Your contribution helped create a positive and empowering experience for all the girls involved. We appreciate your commitment to our community and your role in making this event such a success,” Anita said.
Many of our employees used Volunteer Leave to participate and encouraged colleagues to take part in future opportunities that help create positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander youth.
All permanent Arc employees are entitled to one paid leave day each year to volunteer for a registered community or charity organisation, giving our people the opportunity to get out in the community and support a cause that’s important to them.
Arc Infrastructure Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Unwin expressed her thanks to the volunteers.
“Seeing our people so willingly to step forward to support our Principal Partners through events like the Deadly Sista Girlz Netball Carnival is something we’re incredibly proud of. These programs create real opportunities for young people across Western Australia and reflect the values we stand for as an organisation.
“I want to thank every volunteer who contributed their time, energy and enthusiasm. Your involvement helps strengthen our communities and makes a meaningful difference in the lives of the young people these programs support,” Stephanie said
