Arc Infrastructure is pleased to announce a renewed Principal Partnership with Constable Care Foundation (CCF) to continue support of CCF Constable Care Safety School and reach new audiences with vital rail safety education messages.
Arc Infrastructure is a long-time supporter and proud Foundation Partner of CCF Constable Care Safety School, WA’s first experiential road and transport safety centre.
Since 2023, Arc Infrastructure has gifted over 35 free excursions to Constable Care Safety School (valued at $698.50 each) to regional and Perth Metro schools near the freight rail network during Rail Safety Week, an annual community awareness week held in Australia and New Zealand, designed to engage the community in safe rail practices.
As well as enabling CCF in-school rail safety programs and excursions to Constable Care Safety School for primary school students, Arc Infrastructure has partnered with CCF to develop ‘Stop In Your Tracks’, a rail safety education program targeted at teenagers, aged 13 to 17. The program will include interactive Forum Theatre performances and a film-based incursion, covering safety and dangers around trains and railways.
During these performances, students engage in facilitated discussions about why young people take risks, before participating in replays of scenarios, examining how external factors like peer pressure influence our choices and behaviours.
Constable Care Foundation Chief Executive Officer Ian Anstee has explained the approach to the ‘Stop In Your Tracks’ program.
“Stop In Your Tracks is action-oriented and uses interactive techniques to transform students from passive spectators into active participants, or ‘spect-actors’,” Mr Anstee said.
“We’ve found that encouraging young people to roleplay as they explore real-world scenarios and develop strategies for dealing with challenges that affect them fosters resilience, empathy, critical thinking in decision making and help-seeking behaviours.”
Arc Infrastructure Acting CEO Nathan Speed has expressed his thanks to CCF for collaborating with the business to engage young people in rail safety education.
“Arc’s community partnership with Constable Care Foundation is an important part of our commitment to rail safety education,” Mr Speed said.
“We thank Constable Care Foundation for the invaluable work they do in their various safety initiatives, including the Constable Care Safety School and ‘Stop In Your Tracks’.
The community are reminded to be alert and safe around rail:
-
Multiple freight trains can come at any time and from either direction; always cross tracks at a designated pedestrian level crossing.
-
Whether you’re a motorist, truck driver, cyclist or pedestrian, always STOP, LOOK, LISTEN and THINK before crossing at a level crossing. Check it is safe to cross.
-
Always ensure there is enough space for your vehicle on the other side of a level crossing before making the decision to cross.
-
Trains can’t swerve and take a long time to stop. Even at low speeds it can take a freight train several hundred metres before arriving to a complete stop. Don’t try to beat a train; ensure there is enough time for you to safely cross tracks.
