Arc Infrastructure’s autonomous wagon project was named as the winner of the Freight Rail Excellence Award at the Australasian Rail Industry (ARI) Awards in Melbourne last night.

Network Operation Interface Principal Kevin Reeves also received the Career Achievement Award.

The ARI Awards recognise and celebrate individual and company achievements in the rail industry, showcasing examples of excellence and innovation to support its growth and success.

Arc developed the autonomous wagon concept with the Westport project in mind, utilising existing technology from numerous industries and applying them to a rail scenario. The prototype wagon will soon arrive in Australia, and an unveiling is expected before the end of the year.

Network Operation Interface Principal Kevin Reeves, who won the Career Achievement Award, celebrated 50 years of service in 2022. Mr Reeves has been a champion for safeworking throughout his rail career and is an industry leader and mentor in the field.

Arc Infrastructure’s Digital Twin was also named as a finalist in the Freight Rail Excellence and Innovation Award categories.

Chief Executive Officer Murray Cook said these awards recognised the incredible work happening across Arc, utilising advanced technologies to both modernise and decarbonise the operation of the rail network.

“Congratulations to the teams recognised as finalists and winners.

“A special congratulations to Kevin, whose long and outstanding work over 50 years has been recognised tonight,” Murray said.
