TCL OLE Arc Electrical Awareness Training

A mandatory Arc Electrical Awareness Training module has been launched for those working in an area of the Arc Network adjacent to an electrified area of Thornlie-Cockburn Link (TCL) Overhead Line Equipment (OLE).

Arc Infrastructure is continuing to work closely with the Public Transport Authority (PTA) on the METRONET Thornlie-Cockburn Link (TCL) project. This has seen the duplication and relocation of 22km of Arc Infrastructure’s freight rail track to make way for the new TCL passenger route that will be operated by the PTA.

The TCL project is working towards an energisation date of 17 January 2025 for the Overhead Line Equipment (OLE). This means electricity will start being supplied to the overhead wires and other equipment that powers electric trains on the PTA passenger lines.

This change means people need to consider the risk posed by OLE when undertaking maintenance works or other activities on Arc’s network in the area.

The OLE energisation in the TCL section impacts Arc Line 6 (CH 16.900km to 29.900km), and people working within this area will be required to complete Arc Electrical Awareness Training.

The online training module takes approximately one hour to complete and is a mandatory module that must be completed before working in an area of the Arc Network adjacent to an electrified area.

You can access the Arc Electrical Awareness Training by booking the course in the Safeworking Accreditation calendar. Once you have completed the training it will be recorded against your Track Access Permit (TAP), which will be reissued with the adjusted Accreditation level.

Where works are planned in the vicinity of the TCL OLE area, a risk assessment will need to be completed to identify and manage hazards in the area relevant to the task.

It is not expected there will be any changes to normal above rail operations.
