Arc Infrastructure, the manager and operator of Western Australia’s 5,500 kilometre freight rail network, will be undertaking works on the Uduc Road level crossing in Harvey from Tuesday, 19 May to Thursday, 21 May 2026.
These works are part of Main Roads WA and Arc’s rolling five-year plan for level crossing protection upgrades.
The Uduc Road level crossing upgrade will include a new control system for the existing road crossing. To increase the level of protection on the existing pedestrian maze of the north side, automatic pedestrian gates and lights will be installed. No work will be done on the south side pedestrian maze.
You can expect to encounter the following during the works period.
Tuesday, 19 May (day):
- Verge works only, with no traffic management in place.
- New pedestrian gates will be installed on the north side of the Uduc Road pedestrian level crossing and latched open.
The new gates will NOT be functional at this time.
- A “Not in use” sign will be installed on the gates.
- Pedestrian Lights will be covered during the night.
- A Protection Officer will be on site to assist pedestrians who are using the crossing during the day.
Tuesday, 19 May to Wednesday, 20 May (night):
- There will be no construction personnel on site.
- The New North side gates will be tied open with the “Not in use” sign installed; lights will be covered.
- Bells and lights functioning as usual on the road crossing.
- The existing South side infrastructure will operate as normal.
Wednesday, 20 May (day):
- Crossing commissioning will take place, including work on the electrical infrastructure and signalling systems.
- The existing road boom-gate arms will be replaced.
- Traffic management will be on site providing directions as for brief periods during testing only one lane will be available for vehicles on Uduc Road.
- A Protection Officer will be on site to assist pedestrians who are using the crossing.
Wednesday, 20 May (night) to Thursday, 21 May (day):
- We anticipate works to be completed by the end of day Wednesday, 20 May but have allowed for contingency on Thursday, 21 May if required.
- If the commissioning is not completed a Protection Officer and Traffic Management will be onsite overnight until the completion of works, the following day.
We anticipate there will be delays when the traffic is moving in a single lane configuration for isolated periods during the day when crossing testing is taking place. Local drivers may encounter increased traffic at these times.
Please follow all traffic management signage and directions during this period, including the guidance of Protection Officers for pedestrians.
