Arc Infrastructure, the manager and operator of Western Australia’s 5,500 kilometre freight rail network, will be undertaking works on the on the Readheads Road in North Dandalup on Tuesday 20 October 2026.
These works are part of Main Roads WA and Arc’s rolling five-year plan for level crossing protection upgrades.
The Readheads Road level crossing upgrade will include the installation of boomgates and bells.
To facilitate the works a closure of the crossing during work hours will be required. A detour is available via Elliots Road and Hopeland Road.

About the new bells
The bells are an audible warning device which are an important part of the active safety system at the crossing. The bells are triggered on approach and for the duration a train passes through the crossing. The bells will sound whenever the level crossing is activated. The introduction of bells is a new noise impact. Arc is mindful of the need to balance amenity with our safety obligations.
