Working together for rail safety

Arc Infrastructure is excited to announce the launch of Stop in Your Tracks, a compelling new school incursion developed in partnership with Constable Care Foundation, targeted at upper primary and secondary students.

Designed to spark meaningful conversations around risk-taking and rail safety, Stop in Your Tracks is a dynamic, interactive film-based incursion that uses real-life scenarios. Through storytelling and Forum Theatre techniques, students are empowered to explore the impact of their choices and build resilience in the face of peer pressure and everyday challenges.

The program begins with a short film that follows four friends as they navigate boredom and peer dynamics after school. What starts as a game of chicken with a train quickly escalates, revealing the serious consequences of risky behaviour and opening the door to critical discussions about safety around trains and railway tracks.

But Stop in Your Tracks doesn’t stop at storytelling. Using Forum Theatre, facilitators invite students to become “spect-actors,” stepping into the story to reimagine decisions and outcomes. This immersive approach encourages empathy, critical thinking, and collaborative problem-solving, helping students identify safer pathways in their own lives.

Arc Infrastructure Chief Executive Officer Stephanie Unwin expressed her support of the new program.

“Safety is at the heart of everything we do at Arc Infrastructure.

“We’re proud to partner with Constable Care Foundation to develop Stop in Your Tracks because it gives young people the tools to make safer choices, not just around railways, but in life. This program is about empowering students to think critically, act responsibly, and look out for one another,” Stephanie said.

As the manager of Western Australia’s freight rail network, Arc Infrastructure is committed to fostering a culture of safety both on and off the tracks. Stop in Your Tracks is the latest initiative in a long-standing partnership with Constable Care Foundation, aimed at creating safe spaces for young people to explore tough topics and develop strategies for real-world challenges.

Constable Care Foundation Chief Executive Ian Anstee said Stop in Your Tracks is a welcome addition to the leading WA safety education provider’s list of programs:

“Constable Care Foundation empowers young West Australians aged 4-24 with vital skills to stay out of harm’s way, and we’re pleased to offer this program, developed through our strong partnership with Arc Infrastructure,” he said.

“With around 100 rail-related fatalities and over 600 near misses reported by TrackSAFE Foundation each year, rail safety is a critical issue for young people to understand.

“Through a creative mix of film and live theatre, Stop In Your Tracks doesn’t just teach essential safety messages, it also helps students develop the critical thinking skills needed to make safer decisions in real-life situations.”
